Do They Actually Get It?
It was great to see that Fedhasa (Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa) also carried an article about Durban to become SA’s First Smart City. Of course it was the Mercury article and the headline, although technically correct, should probably read Durban to become Africa’s first Smart City.
But like most organisations, I don’t think Fedhasa quite understands the significance even of just the one element of this new Smart City we are building – the faster, cheaper, better quality broadband connectivity – because the story of almost 700 words was unceremoniously bunched into two paragraphs (which is horrible to read).
Now, with Durban being a holiday city; the kick-off point for exploring KwaZulu-Natal and all the Berg, Battlefiels and Big Five stuff, I wonder why the hospitality industry isn’t in the front of the row on this one, banging down Smartxchange’s door?
